Friday, Full & Good

April 06, 2012

Today represents a convergence of powerful events.

Those of Christian faith recognize the day as Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus.

This is also the beginning of Passover, celebrating the Exodus of the Children of Israel from their enslavement in Egypt.

And tonight a full "Easter Moon" will rise in the sky.

Regardless of one's religious or spiritual convictions, it is hard not to feel the energy inherent in such a convergence.

We need only be open to what is happening, all around us.

Last night I was walking down the street with my dearest one, and found myself startled by the enormous orb of moon that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, hanging before us in the sky.

Typically one who follows the moon's progressions, I had fallen out of the habit of late. Thus the appearance of our "Bella Luna" caught me off guard.

I have been proceeding through my life in a steadfast and goal-oriented way, putting on my big girl pants and getting the job done.

Meanwhile, bigger things were happening.

The Christian world was preparing for Easter. The Jewish world was preparing for Passover.

And the moon was continuing to find her way beyond the shadow of the earth.

A compelling reminder she was to me, this startlingly brilliant sky maiden.

A reminder that things much larger than ourselves are always in play, often building to a crescendo of convergence.

A reminder that it is necessary to pay attention to things both large and small.

This morning, I sat watching the sun rise over the waters of Casco Bay.

I felt the power of convergence.

And knew this Friday to be full, and Good.
