There is something greater than us all, I am convinced. I do not know whether this something should be called God. I do not know whether this something is, as some have suggested, best described as a 'cosmic energy' or 'life force.'
Perhaps this something is each of the above, or none.
What I know is that my small life is not merely my own. My small life is a bit of a speck of a particle in the much bigger something that surrounds and infuses each of us.
My life is a photon. I am a photon. I am a particle of light.
As are we all.
I watched the sun rise again today, and was struck by the importance of the light emanating from our nearest star. It warms us. It sustains us. It brings us joy.
Each of us has the capability to put forth light. We are each imbued with the energy that makes this possible.
And when we put forth light, and the heat of our passion for life, we warm those around us. We help to sustain others. We bring others joy.
It is not always easy, but it is always, ALWAYS possible.
Babies are pure light. Pure joy. They need do nothing to accomplish this, they merely are as they were created.
We were all, similarly, created. When we return to our true source--our essence--we understand that life is very simple. We are very simple.
We are energy. We are the life force. We are, should we wish to define it so, of God.
Our small lives are bits of specks of particles in the much bigger something that surrounds and infuses each of us.
We are the light.
You are in good company with these thoughts of light.
It's very much like a prayer you have written or a poem or a song
. "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Lisa, You have the Light of Life and what's more important you share it.

What I have always loved is the contrast between light and dark--the notion of chiaroscuro. I have known both in my life, and each informs the other. Thank you, Colm.
